Over the last few days, I am sure that more than a few visitors to Gettysburg have been disappointed to find that the National Park grounds are closed to the public during the Government shutdown. I sincerely hope that the impasse in Washington is resolved soon, and we can get the devoted servants who work in the National Park Service back to work.
Leaving the politics of the matter aside, the shutdown has me thinking about an interesting exercise. If you had to tour the Gettysburg Battlefield during a government shutdown - with park roads and lands closed off, aside from public access roads - how would you get it done?
The floor is open.
